Are you talking
about time and punctuality with your Students? (Ventures Unit 7)
Below are some
great discussion starters for high intermediate and
advanced students. (Copy/paste the quotes below into a word document)
For beginners, write
on board:
You have an
appointment at 2pm.
Do you arrive at: * 1:50pm * 2pm * 2:15pm * 3pm? (Or: appointment at 12pm - teach am/pm arrive at 11:50am or 12:10pm etc)
Vocabulary:
appointments / change
my ways / a way of saying… / valuable / early, on time, late
Read the three quotes below and discuss:

I'd like to thank Lianne for her presentation at the teachers' meeting and the wonderful materials she shared. I changed the materials for neighborhoods and ran the project for 4 classes from introducing it to presentations. Some of the tasks included choosing a neighborhood as a group, doing research online, finding pictures, putting a PP together, practicing presenting, using negotiating language and reflecting in writing about how they felt during and after the presentation. Some of the groups even met outside of class to work on the PP and practice. In addition, the students/audience had to evaluate each presentation and ask questions. They expressed many positive feelings about working on the project and the final presentations.

Going Mobile: A Q&A with Nicky Hockly
During my recent webinar Going Mobile, I described activities that use mobile devices in the classroom, and that I have used with my own EFL students. This included two QR code activities, which generated quite a few questions from the audience! QR (Quick Response) codes can be read by mobile phones, and can deliver a text message to students’ mobile phone screens (among other things).
