Something To Try- from Stephanie Burnes
I like using random names because it makes sure a variety of voices are heard and also makes students listen better because they know they are just as likely as anyone else to be called on. Also, it provides a little wait time to students while it spins, and applause so that it feels more like winning the lottery than being called on in class.
