Greetings friends and colleagues of the NYPL! 

I delayed the release of the blog until today so I could include pictures and information from our All Staff Meeting on January 27, 2017.

	What does it stand for?	How would you do this?Explain the purpose for each step, what happens?
W	Warm-up	*Create an activity that reviews previously learned content to begin a new lesson. *Create an activity to focus on the topic to be taught
I	Introduction	*An activity to focus students’ attention to the new lesson *Describe the purpose by stating & writing the       objective on the board *Relate the objective to the students’ lives *Assess students’ prior knowledge of the new       material
P	Presentation	*Create an activity to introduce new vocabulary *Introduce new information with a variety of  strategies using visuals, realia, description, etc. *Check for level of student understanding with      comprehension checks
P	Practice	*Model the activity or skill  for students *Monitor student practice by circulating
E	Evaluation	*Create an activity to assess students’ attainment of objective
A	Application	*Provide an activity that requires students to apply the learning beyond the lesson and connect to their own lives.

TESOL Press is seeking contributors with engaging and effective lesson plan ideas for teaching grammar in the English language classroom.

Deadline: 17 February 2017

Scope and Purpose

The upcoming edition of New Ways in Teaching Grammar will feature the latest collection of form-focused activities developed by ESL/EFL professionals for classrooms in a variety of settings and for students of all levels. These communicative grammar-based activities will motivate students to use and master grammatical forms for speaking and writing in high school, higher-ed, or IEP classrooms.  The lesson plans may include digital technology or Internet resources, as this volume will have a companion online resource page. We look forward to receiving your lesson plan ideas!
