Welcome!

Dear colleagues,

Welcome to TEACHER HUB, our new blog that will talk about current teaching trends, give links to interesting websites and articles, and hopefully be a place of support and sharing for all of our wonderful NYPL Adult Learning Center teachers.

This is meant to be an interactive and lively space to share knowledge and ideas. If you have something you'd like to post, or just an article you think we should be reading, please let us know. You can email it to elizabethschade@nypl.org or elkestappert@nypl.org. Right now, Elke and I are working on the blog but we would definitely appreciate your involvement and input.

That includes letting us know what you would like to see and read on this blog. Need pronunciation ideas? Want to share a project that you worked on with your students? This is the place!

We will let you know about any professional development events around the city that might be of interest. We might see some of you at the (now full) NYU Literacy Review Workshops on Friday, October 2nd, and NYS TESOL has mini-events (called 'salons') from time to time as well.

Finally, we intend to update our blog once a week. We will send you a reminder email to let you know, and we hope, as the blog grows, it will be something you look forward to receiving each week.

Last cycle, Lower Manhattan Lead Teacher Ivana Ferguson started an email conversation with other teachers about suitable reading materials for students. 
Thanks to all who contributed!

We have collected your responses and added them to our student wikipage (click here). 

While the site is a work in progress, there are already many good resources for students of all levels to practice English outside of class.

There is a also a link for mouse exercises for computer beginners, since digital literacy is a key concern in our program.
